Resident
***Killamarsh and Eckington Police SNT***
We would like to remind people of the rules around e-scooters.....
On the 17th April PC Hempsey and PCSO Rawson ended up seizing a e-scooter on the Ravencar Estate and then on the 20th April PC Hempsey and PCSO Furmidge seized a further Scooter by the Co-Op in Eckington. We appreciate that this is seen as us being the "Fun Police", however the law is clear on this. You cannot ride them on a UK public Road, cycle path or pavement. The only place an e-scooter can be used is on private land, with the land owners permission. This is due to the e-scooters being classified as a personal light electric vehicle, so they are treated as motor vehicles and are subject to the same legal requirements, such as: MOT, Licensing, Tax and Insurance.
